2014 Sponsors Performers

We would like to thank the following Adelaide Artists for contributing to the DV SnapShots Conference Program:

                       Alex Front CD Image

Alex Hoskings

This is just the beginning for Australian singer songwriter Alex Hosking, working hard off the back of her successful debut album ‘WISH’.The single, Wish on a Star was immediately aired on radio, with requests for interviews. And subsequent song Puppet has had airplay on radio stations nationally.

Her current achievement is being awarded as a semi – finalist for 2013 International Songwriting Competition ahead of over 20,000 entrants, competing with the world’s talent including Aussie, Guy Sebastian and Grammy Winner Kimbra, suggests that Alex’s sheer talent as a performer is outstripped only by the genius of her writing. In addition to this, Alex recently became runner up to competition discover13 which has gifted her recording opportunities and performances.

“My mind is a circus and my heart is open”, is how Alex describes what is behind her prolific songwriting, which started when she was just ten years old. Live performances commenced almost simultaneously.

USA Mondo tunes describe Alex’s partly pop and partly indy rock music with having a “Sheryl Crow attitude and a Tori Amos heart.”

At the 2011 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Alex caught the eye of charismatic entertainer David Campbell who mentored Alex to open his showwith her original song ‘Different Light’. The show, High School Cabaret, was quotedas “one of the most popular and exciting shows” of the AdelaideCabaret.

Alex continues to write pop and indie rock influenced by a strong singer songwriter base, which showcases her versatility and creativity.

Shehas just entered her twenties, and already successfully supporting known artists Shannon Noll, James Reyneand co-writing with international DJ’s, Bonnie Anderson, Celia Pavey and Karise Eden to name but a few.

Alex is ready to take on the nation, but most importantly and what’s most appealing, she is authentic.

Alex is currently available for duo performances and is looking for residencies where she can bring his infectious blend of pop and indie rock to your venue and assist in growing your clientele.

Jazmin Brooks. Jazzie Bee (Jazmin Brooks) – Musician

Whilst Jazmin’s friends at the age of five were out playing with dolls and toys, Jazmin was busy singing in front of a mirror pretending she was an accomplished singer/song writer. She has continued on with the dream of one day becoming famous.
Engaging in professional vocal, guitar and keyboard lessons, and at the age of seven she had her first performance with the “Carry on Guides”. She has since then stayed with them performing annually in their variety show, singing, dancing and acting. Jazmin was a member of the Australian Youth Choir for 3 years and regularly performs at the Gawler Show and Northern Sound System (recently visited by the young Royals) and actively participates in the school band and choir.
Jazmin’s passion for the love of music is clearly defined in her writing style, expressing feelings of love through to affairs of the world. It’s an exciting time for Jazmin as she continues her studies at St Columba College and performing her original material at every opportunity that arises. No doubt Jazmin’s road ahead is full of excitement and that dream of one day becoming famous will flourish.

Laurissa Boyle

 Laurissa Boyle

Thankyou for the opportunity to be involved in such a worthy cause today, Laurissa Boyle is a 12 year old primary school student who began singing at the age of 10. After the loss of her beloved grandfather, to help with the grieving process, Laurissa started to sing his favourite song, it was only then, her family heard her sing for the first time and were amazed at how rich, velvety and mature she sounded! A few months later, she was enrolled in ETI music school and from there she seem to flourish!
At just 10 years of age, she entered Adelaide’s Next Superstar and made it through to the grand final, singing in front of about 1500 people at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, winning the $500 encouragement award. She has since entered the royal Adelaide show singing comp making it to a finalist two years in a row, securing equal 3rd place winner this year!
Laurissa was chosen last year by Hockey SA, after seeing her on youtube, to perform the national anthem at the Grandmasters Women’s Championships Hockey ceremony. Laurissa has also had the honour of singing at the Gawler Christmas Carols for the last two years, alongside Wes Carr, then Rachel Leahcar. Laurissa has started guitar lessons at ETI, which she is loving! More recently, she secured herself a Performing Arts half scholarship at Trinity College Gawler, which she hopes will help further her musical ability.
Laurissa feels blessed to have been given so many musical opportunities at such a young age, including singing in open mic finals, relay for life fundraiser, the Gawler show opening ceremony, weddings and birthdays. She is involved in a fundraiser this weekend singing with well known bands to be held on Sunday at the Bridgeway Tavern. Her biggest honour, to date would be, being chosen, to represent ETI, alongside two other students, to perform at the Northern Sound System, for the Royal couple, Will and Kate! She is looking forward to continuing her musical journey, recording her music and hopefully one day, begin to write her own songs!

3’s Company M T V(Movement / Theatre / Voice) is an organization which aims to make aspects of the performing arts accessible to people and communities in vulnerable and isolated situations.  Through their three distinct companies Lisa Lanzi, Alan Hendry and Angela Sharp offer a range of experiences in Movement, Theatre and Voice.

BodyMAP is a dance company for those over 50 years who may have retired from a professional dance career and those members of the general community who would like to renew an interest in dance or be mentored and up-skilled to develop new talents and to perform in new works.

Vintage Theatre Co-op gives those over 50 years an opportunity to work alongside older professional actors in training and performance opportunities thereby gaining or furthering skills in theatre arts.

BodySONG is an artistic partnership currently running 8 diverse and exciting singing groups across Adelaide for those who may not ‘fit’ as easily into the culture of a more mainstream choir.  Members of these groups include those with physical frailty, dementia, mental health issues, those affected by homelessness or women in prison.

One area we excel in as experienced Theatre and Physical Theatre makers is that of Site specific / subject responsive intimate installation pieces for events, conferences and forums.

For DV Snapshots we have prepared an experiential installation where the audience traverses the work in small groups to view fictional, dramatic scenarios which elicit a personal response from the viewer.

Do you want to make a dramatic impact at your next event .. why not consider an installation piece from our team of talented artists.
